Madalena Cardoso de Menezes
An architect since 1992, having received her degree from the School of Architecture of the Universidade Técnica de Lisboa,
she lives and works in Lisbon. She founded the ATELIER DOS REMÉDIOS in 1997, with Francisco Teixeira Bastos.
In 1992 she joined the office of architect Manuel Vicente. As part of the work developed at that office, both in Portugal
and in Macao, she collaborated in projecting a dressage arena for the Portuguese School of Equestrian Art, at the Queluz
National Palace. She was part of the project team that came in 1st place ex-aequo when invited to tender ideas for Expo’ 98
( Lisbon, 1996 ). She was also invited to tender for a hotel adjacent to the Vasco da Gama Tower, in 2001.
Academic activities – In 2003 she became Visiting Professor at the UAL – Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa – working with
architect Manuel Vicente. After giving Urban Design classes, she is currently teaching Architectural Design Studio.
